Hope is everything…
Jack Miller is a friend, a father, and a therapist.
When he learns that he has a brain tumor, his only hope is an expensive and experimental drug. Even though there are no guarantees, Jack decides to take the risk, but he has to revisit his shady past to come up with the money.
While keeping the man he loves in the dark about his condition, he dedicates the rest of his life to helping other people. But it means destroying himself — and lying to the people he loves — in the process.

Jack sat up straight when the doctor came in. “What’s the verdict? Am I dying?” He expected the doctor to say something like, ‘It’s nothing serious; you’re just exhausted. You need plenty of rest’. But what he got was a resounding, “Yes.”
“Wh-what?” Jack blinked disbelievingly. The walls were closing in around him and he was trying to remember to breathe.
“I’m sorry, Jack. It appears that you have a brain tumor.”
“I’ve heard that some are benign.”
“This one isn’t. It’s already quite advanced. It could be dangerous to operate.”
“Well, what are my options, then?”
“We could go ahead and operate, but there are risks, just like with every operation.”
“Right. I could die faster. What else?”
“If I only have a short time to live, I’m not going to do it in a hospital bed. What else?”
“There’s a drug.” The doctor sighed tiredly, or perhaps out of boredom. “It may reduce the tumor to a size where it’s safe to remove.”
“How much is that?”
“Anywhere from five-hundred-thousand dollars to a million.”
That was it then. He didn’t have that kind of money and there was no way on God’s green Earth that he would be able to make that much in time.
