Excerpt:
Seeing the man of his dreams wearing a black suit similar to the one he’d worn on the battlefield flooded Aiden with memories. His throat went dry as he struggled to form words. Moving his tongue around his mouth, he worked on generating saliva.

Thomas groaned and his dark eyes glowed, reminding him of the night on the battlefield.

“I-I would like to thank you,” Aiden stuttered.

“Thank me for what?” Thomas spoke in a brisk voice that bordered on rude. He shifted his weight as if he couldn’t wait to get out of his presence.

Heat rushed into Aiden cheeks. “For saving my life.”

Thomas grunted. “I never thought I’d see you again, Aiden. Now you’ve thanked me you can leave.” Thomas began closing the door and Aiden thrust his foot in the doorway to prevent him.

He was determined to speak with the man. After his grueling search he needed to do more than speak with him, he needed to touch him again. “We’re not done,” he pleaded.

“I think we are. Now remove your foot.” Thomas’ words had taken on a gravely tone and the huskiness tightened Aiden’s balls.

Aiden refused to be turned away. He took a step forward, forcing Thomas to take a step back. “I guess I’ll have to see myself in since you won’t invite me.”

“You don’t understand,” Thomas said, lust in his eyes burning clearly. “It isn’t safe for you here. You need to leave for your own good. I’m not safe, Aiden.”

How should he respond to that? Aiden finally managed to wet his lips. He glanced away unable to handle the man’s hard gaze. His cock thickened in his trousers. Hopefully, Thomas would notice. “That’s ridiculous. You’ve already saved my life. Why wouldn’t you be safe? I’ve been looking for you. I knew after you left that morning I’d probably never see you again. I had to try though. It’s important. Ever since that night I can’t get you out of my mind.” His voice faded. He should have spent time rehearsing this speech in his hotel room. For some reason he hadn’t expected it to be so awkward. Somehow, seeing the man he’d been dreaming about for all these years didn’t inspire words of love. Actually seeing him made breathing difficult. The man looked like he was going to either shut the door in his face or devour him any second.

Desperation seeped out of Thomas’ pores and the albino folded his arms across his chest. Pain flashed in the man’s eyes.

Aiden gulped was he hurting him by being here? Perhaps this was a bad idea. No, he had to do this for his own sanity or at least try. He wanted the man to fuck him, but he couldn’t come right out and say that. Although Thomas was aroused he was fighting his attraction. The albino trembled and wetted his lips. “Please leave,” he pleaded.

“No. I’ve never forgotten our parting kiss. Have you? Do you think about it, too?”

Thomas’ hard gaze softened a fraction. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t.”

The man’s admission caused Aiden to suck in a breath. Their connection hadn’t been dreamed or one-sided. Thomas knew they were meant to be together, too. Emboldened by the revelation he fumbled on. “I never got a chance to tell you how much that kiss meant to me. I mean how much I—”

Thomas swallowed hard and shrugged effectively cutting off what he was trying to say. His pale forehead gleamed with sweat. “It was a goodbye kiss. Nothing more.” His voice cracked, giving away the lie.

Aiden shook his head. People didn’t fantasize about a goodbye kiss. “It meant more to me,” Aiden whispered. “I haven’t been able to be with another man after that night without seeing your face.”

Thomas’ brow furrowed and his voice dropped an octave. “You’ve been with other men?”

“Does that surprise you?”

“I thought I had…” He drew a breath. “I guess it shouldn’t.” Thomas drew closer, as if mesmerized.

Aiden didn’t dare breath thinking Thomas was going to kiss him. The man’s lips were only an inch from his. The pale man touched his cheek and his dark eyes gleamed, nostrils flaring. Their contact sent his blood racing to his groin.

Thomas inhaled sharply and withdrew as if their connection was too much for him to take.

Aiden boldly pursued him. If Thomas wanted to play hard to get he was up for the chase. He’d tracked the man ever since the war ended.
