Can’t Get You Off My Mind by Emma Roman
Somewhere, TX Bachelors Book One

Can’t Get You Off My MindThe rule: Get married and have a baby.

When Grandpa Stinson dies, he expects nothing more than to keep his grandsons together, running the family's multibillion-dollar business. But he's got just one unfaltering rule: they have to get married and have a baby first. The brothers disagree…wholeheartedly.

But it's set in stone. Follow the rule or you're the one grandson out of luck…

Stubborn, rugged, but oh-so-sexy, Roark Stinson, the oldest brother, refuses to give in to his grandfather's manipulations. After all, women are the root of all evil, and he's never witnessed a relationship that actually works. Then it hits him; it doesn't have to work.

Roark just needs a warm body to agree to the terms…

Zoe Morgan never wanted to be anyone's "means to an end," especially not Roark Stinson's. But his proposal is one she's in no position to refuse—can't refuse. When the stakes are this high, a warm body might just be exactly what she needs.

Maybe—just maybe—Grandpa Stinson knew exactly what he was doing…

Excerpt:
“To take full control of your share of Stinson Railways, your grandfather stipulated that you all have twelve months to find a wife and…”

“And what?” Roark growled.

“Have an heir on the way.” The company/family lawyer, Kevin Gilroy, spoke the words haltingly, probably expecting Roark or one of the other men to throw something across the large boardroom table.

Roark turned his chair and stared out the large window wall behind him. The town bustled around them outside. Cars passed the building, and people strolled casually along the sidewalks. Everything kept moving. Everything except his world.

This had to be a joke. His grandfather couldn’t possibly be serious.

“All of us?” TJ asked, his voice raspy. “What if we aren’t ready to get married? At least Nic has a girlfriend.”

“Just because I have a girlfriend doesn’t mean I like this, either. This means we have to involve a child in the situation rather quickly,” his youngest brother added.

“So because the old bastard couldn’t match us up while he was alive, he’s going to attempt to do so from the grave?” Roark’s fingernails dug into his palms, sending a distracting surge of pain through his angry mind. He needed the punching bag in his garage right now.

“Roark, he’s not trying. He is. This will is ironclad, and I asked him numerous times when he changed it if he was certain. There’s no way around this. If you and your brothers don’t comply with his wishes, your positions in the company will be replaced. You will continue to earn the same income for the duration of your lifetime, but once you pass away, your shares will be sold to the highest bidder.”

“This is unacceptable, Gilroy!” Roark couldn’t hold back the rage seething in his chest. He turned the chair to face the lawyer and slammed the tabletop with his fist. The water glasses on the table jarred, and the pen in front of Kevin jumped an inch into the air.

The older man shrugged his shoulders.

“How could you let him do this to us?” TJ leaned forward on the table, resting his forehead in his hands.”

“He wasn’t ill, boys. He knew what he was doing.”

“Dammit, Gilroy. You could’ve warned us. We could’ve talked to him,” Roark shouted, raising his voice louder than needed, but it made him feel better. If he couldn’t hit something, at least he could yell.

The lawyer shook his head. Roark knew the old man had probably argued with their grandfather for as long as possible. Gilroy couldn’t be blamed. This convoluted plan was his bastard of a grandfather’s idiotic idea that love and babies could solve problems.

“Bring whatever papers I need to sign to the house. I don’t want to think about this again today.” Roark stood, shoved back his chair, and stormed to the door, throwing it open without caution. Barreling into the lobby, he ran straight into Ms. Keller, an older woman who managed the Stinson Railway Regional Office front desk. She lurched to the side, falling into another woman he’d never seen before wearing a GM Courier polo shirt.

Everything happened so quickly. His reflexes allowed him to save Ms. Keller from unceremoniously hitting the floor, but the other woman was out of reach.

The courier fought to recover her balance but failed, falling hard against the fish tank directly behind her. A terrified shriek slipped from her lips followed by an even more gut-wrenching crack.

“Oh, dear Lord,” Ms. Kellar said, throwing up her hands, pulling from his grasp, and moving toward the woman on the floor.

Roark moved faster, but not before the glass on the fish tank broke completely and the entire contents of the aquarium poured out over the poor young woman’s head.

Broken glass and flopping fish surrounded her as he knelt at her side.

“Ma’am? I’m so sorry. Can you hear me?”

“Zoe looked up into a pair of worried blue eyes. The voice was foggy, but she was pretty sure he was asking if she was okay. She tried to nod, but her head was spinning and her ears were still ringing from the impact. Soaked and covered in fish slime. Really? At the same moment, she felt something flutter between her boobs, and she shrieked, letting loose a sound that would’ve embarrassed even a girly girl.

“Get it out!” She shuddered and tried to lunge from where she sat on the ground. “Get it out!” Her hands flew to the unbuttoned collar of her polo, and she reached down the open neck. “Ahhhhh!”

The man kneeling in front of her wore an expression of shock and a good helping of confusion. And he was vaguely familiar…

Her fingers finally closed around the finned culprit, and she shoved the fish into the man’s face. He brushed it away and put both of his hands on her ribcage under her arms, lifting her in one fluid movement.

It wasn’t direct, but his hands grazed the sides of her breasts, and heat flamed up her neck and into her cheeks. First, a fish between her boobs, and now, a man was raising her from the floor as if she weighed nothing at all.
