He raised his eyebrows. “Ahh. So that’s where you got your flair for repair work.”

“Hey.” She hit him good-naturedly. “I did get that coupling fixed and that’s—”

“More than you can say for me. I get it.” He laughed at himself. “Man. I really thought I could handle this. I’d say it’s pretty much been a disaster from the start.”

She grinned. “Oh, I don’t know about that.” Abruptly her manner changed. She bit her lip, leaning forward to stare intently into his eyes.

He became acutely aware of her proximity. As if reading his mind she said, “It’s getting hot in here all of a sudden, don’t you think?” Her long fingernails slid down her uniform blouse leisurely to undo a button. Orion’s heart beat picked up. He was riveted to her actions. She reached to loosen his top button, and then another, and another, slipping her hand finally underneath his shirt. Her touch excited him.

His body remembered what it was like to be with a woman. Reflexively, he reached his hand under her long hair to cradle her neck and draw her in little by little. Her lips hovered, warm and inviting. A groan escaped him. He sounded like someone who’d carried a burden too long and had just been allowed to set it down. The kissing became more intense. It had been a long time since he’d been with a woman. And why not this woman? She was decidedly HOT. Knockout gorgeous. Intelligent, funny…and HOT. She was, in fact, everything he wanted in a woman; she was not, however, the woman he wanted. He pushed away from her.
