For the King & Elven EmpireElendil, Gabriel, Eden, and their children are accompanying King Elrohir and his bride to the High Elven Kingdom, by invitation of his father, King Silas. What started off as a simple trip turns into a nightmare, as the children disappear while working in the forest. Eden and Gabriel are frantic. Where are their children? Why can’t they touch their life forces? They join their talents and go on a search, calling in every resource they can, but get no results. They reach out to the Empire for help, but that is quickly brought under control when Lothrariel arrives.

Unfortunately, he didn’t get there quickly enough.

At Gabriel's command, the Kings and Queens lead their armies into the High Elven Kingdom, but it is not Gabriel who will take command; it is Lothrariel. He has regained his ancient powers and searches for answers, but a power as ancient as his has hidden the answers. Who has done this? Why?

With their parents away, the children of the Light Elven Kingdom work behind the scenes to regain the freedom of their friends. There is only one Elf who can reach the children where they are; S’Larea. When they are finished, will the High Elven Kingdom be the same?

Excerpt:
Lorenth, Elizara, Sarantha and Laurent were all familiar with childish behavior, and there was no way anyone was going to persuade them that there wasn’t trouble looming in the near future. In fact, there was no way they doubted that it wasn’t already walking in and out of S’Larea’s room, disguised as children. Those innocent looking expressions weren’t fooling anyone.

“Yes, Aunt Sarantha?” Larien asked, as she turned an angelic looking face onto her aunt.

Sarantha came very close to rolling her eyes at the ploy. Larien? Wearing an innocent expression? Now she knew for sure that something was wrong. Serenity always said that if her daughters were pretending to be ignorant of a situation you could bet your Dragon’s fangs that they were in the thick of whatever was happening.

“I want you to tell me why so many children have been disturbing S’Larea, when they know she needs rest so desperately?”

“S’Larea asked us to, and we care. She has been having a lot of visions lately, and it takes so much out of her.” Larien answered.

“Very well, but I don’t want anyone staying for very long. She does need to rest.” Sarantha accepted Larien’s word. There was little more that she could do. S’Larea wasn’t about to rest until she had seen her friends, and she adamantly insisted that she was going to get her way. If she didn’t know C’Liandra so well, she would have accused her of spoiling the pretty little Princess. As it was, she knew that wasn’t the case. Daroth and C’Liandra were exceptional parents, and their children were well behaved.

Larien took off running the moment she thought she was far enough out of eyesight not to get caught. S’Larea had recovered enough to begin issuing orders, and she was currently acting as messenger. She was to begin by getting everyone who was on the list of the top players to gather for a meeting. S’Larea had given her the names Jerrol had mentioned, as well as a few that she wanted to speak with, starting with Séreméla and Dweena. She, Larien, was on the list of players, which made her very happy, because that meant she would be in on what was happening. From the little information that S’Larea had told her, she got the impression that they were personally going to go after their cousins. It was past time something happened to free them.

Larien was so preoccupied with her thoughts that she didn’t notice she had a shadow. Her uncle, Lorenth, decided he wasn’t letting his sneaky little niece out of his sight. Serenity could thank him later if he caught her doing anything she shouldn’t.

Lorenth frowned as Larien stopped to speak with Marious’ quads for a moment. He couldn’t get close enough to hear what message she passed on, and it didn’t help matters when they immediately scattered like mice when she was finished. Larien went on to speak to her brothers. They also scattered, and it made him anxious to know what was about to happen, especially when she turned back to his home, to report back to S’Larea. She didn’t have to tell him what she was doing. It didn’t take much imagination to figure it out, and he swiftly ran for home, so he would be sitting in his chair, appearing to relax when she got there. She would never suspect that he had followed her.

Larien smiled at her Uncle Lorenth, as she walked into the house, and noted the telltale signs of moist ground on his boots. He had been in the forest, and she was sure she had a good idea why. He was trying too hard to look innocent. That never worked with her, even her uncle Gabriel couldn’t pull that off, and he was a lot better at it than his brother.

“Good afternoon, Uncle Lorenth, how are you?” Larien walked up to him to give him a hug, as she wiggled her way onto his lap for a quick cuddle.

Lorenth was totally captivated by his pretty niece. Larien was so much like her mother, and like Serenity, she would one day be a great beauty. He didn’t have any doubt that her reasons for wanting to be held was a ploy to get him off the track of what they were doing, but it wasn’t going to work. He wasn’t beyond enjoying the games she was playing.

“At the moment, I am feeling wonderful. What Elven parent wouldn’t? I have a pretty little girl sitting on my lap, and it reminds me of how my own little girls used to do the same thing.”

“You are really going to miss them, won’t you?” Larien asked as she looked sadly at him.

Oh yes, she is good, Lorenth thought, but two could play this game.

“I most definitely will miss my girls. There won’t be anyone left to sit on my lap like this anymore.”

Larien gave her uncle a tiny smile, as she looked up at him through her lashes and suggested.

“Perhaps Alassë and I could come to keep you and Aunt Sarantha company from time to time. You wouldn’t feel so alone then, would you?”

“No, I suppose that would help chase the loneliness away. Would you like to come to visit?” Lorenth asked.

Larien nodded enthusiastically, as her smile widened, and her face beamed with unfettered happiness.

That, Lorenth decided, wasn’t acting, but there was something going on in that head of hers, beyond this conversation, that he needed to ferret out from her. He knew it was going to be a challenge. He wasn’t the only Eagle Claw in the room, who had inherited the talent they were known for, and unless he missed his guess, she, like her mother, would one day be a Dragon General. He wondered if she would ride Alleria, or if she would ride a different white Dragon? Only time would tell. In the meantime, she was surrounded by small Dragonets who followed her everywhere.

“Do you think Aunt Sarantha would mind if we ate outside with the others who will be coming to see S’Larea?” Larien asked, as she leaned a shoulder against Lorenth’s chest and rested her cheek against the curve of his neck.

Lorenth, half lulled into a state of blissful thought, shook his mind to clear it. Here was the answer he had been looking for. The reason Larien had sat on his knee to begin with. Now he would find out what this was all about. Maybe.

“Who are all the others, and who is ‘we’?” Lorenth asked.

“S’Larea and I. We were told that the children plan to bring food to share at a picnic outside. It is only a few feet from your doorstep and you and Aunt Sarantha could join us. We don’t want to tire S’Larea, but the sunshine will do her good. Queen C’Liandra always sits S’Larea in the sun to help replenish her power after she has one of her bouts. It seems to help.” Larien explained.

It wasn’t the information Lorenth expected, but maybe he could find out more when they were together. It would be interesting to see S’Larea work her magic amongst the other children. If he was wrong about his suspicions, he could apologize later. He gave a chuckle, picked Larien up off of his knees and stood her on the floor in front of him. He then pointed at Sarantha.
