Emerald Springs Legacy Book Five
Meet Ashley, the fifth of five unforgettable characters in the Emerald Springs Legacy.
Life in the small town of Emerald Springs, Washington, is anything but slow and peaceful. An old feud between former business partners Whitman and Sanders keeps competition on a high burner, fueling resentment, renewing rivalries … and love. Now someone is trying to bring down Emerald Tea Farm, and it’s up to both families to protect their future while still wrangling over the past.
The last six months have been nothing short of exciting for the Whitmans and Sanders. Adam, Chad and Daniel Whitman have all begun to carve out their niche in the family dynasty. Now it’s Ashley Whitman’s turn. She’s ready to step up with her marketing ideas, talent, and drive to prove she has just as much to contribute to the family tea legacy as her successful cousins.
Deputy sheriff Jacob Sanders is closing in on who is responsible for the suspicious activities plaguing Emerald Springs Farm and Split Acres. When a questionable encounter outside the local bar forces him to tag along to San Diego and play bodyguard to Ashley Whitman, any other man would jump at the chance to be in close quarters with the beautiful, blonde Whitman. Too bad they hate each other. Forced to spend time together, they discover their mutual dislike might be something else entirely. But can a Whitman and Sanders really be happy together?

As the evening merriment began to wind down, Ashley excused herself from the table to use the restroom, humming to herself down the corridor. She wasn’t watching where she was going and slammed into something hard.
Strike that, someone hard.
“Looks like you’re celebrating.” Jacob grinned, not moving from where they had collided.
Ashley stepped back, nearly taking out one of Chad’s team baseball pictures that hung on the wall. She attempted to regain her composure. “Yes, we are. That’s what normal families do.”
Ouch, Ashley. She realized that was a low blow. Maybe he and Colleen had Sunday dinners together. How would she know?
“Must be hard for you.” He nodded toward the Whitman table.
“What must be hard?”
He shrugged. “Engagements, marriages, babies, happily ever afters.” He paused. “What do you think you’re doing wrong?”
Jerk. He deserved the crack she made. She squared her shoulders. “As a matter of fact, I have a boyfriend.” She realized that was a stretch—okay, a lie, but Jacob didn’t need to know that. “Not that it is any of your business, but he’s coming here on Saturday.”
“He doesn’t live in Emerald Springs?”
“No. Seattle,” she said confidently. “We’re getting ready for a trip to San Diego.”
“I see …” Jacob reached behind her, his masculine cologne filling her lungs, causing her knees to shake.
She glanced up to see him fixing the photo she had knocked off its center. “See what?” she croaked, trying to ignore that all it would take was one motion from him and his arms would be down and around her.
“How you’d be attractive from ninety miles away.”
