Hotel Safari is a series of interconnected, stand-alone shifter romance novellas, mostly set in southern Kenya at the Hotel Safari Lodge, owned and operated by the Kemboi family. Chon is a French-educated landscape architect employed by Hotel Safari Thailand. He is a Thai elephant shifter with the body of a fighter and the mind of an intellectual.

He senses vulnerability in Elizabeth despite her refusal to entertain the idea of a relationship with the hired help.

Thai Rebound Excerpt:
The moonlight reflected off her sparkling eyes and the drops of water on her face and shoulders. With a smile stretched across her normally unexpressive face, she’d never looked so beautiful.

He was so taken with her in this light that he just stared at her until her smile shrank.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“Never stop smiling,” he said. “You’re so stunning, I forgot what to do next.”

Mischief filled her gaze. “Don’t worry, I know what to do next.”

Oh, he knew, too, but was curious about what she’d do. Her arms slid from around his neck down his shoulders. She gripped him hard and then jumped into his arms, her legs wrapping around his waist. Her mouth found his and he again lost himself in her taste, smell, feel.

She ground her pelvis into his and he didn’t wait for another hint. He broke off the kiss to stare into her eyes and lifted his eyebrows.

“Yes.”

“Yes?” he asked in a whisper.

Broken Lynx Excerpt:
Twenty minutes later she parked in the lot at the Sarova and they headed straight through the main entrance and out to the pool. The roughly kidney-shaped pool was surrounded by white umbrellas sheltering lounge chairs set up on the grass.

Hans whistled.

“Yeah, it’s nice.” Layers of stress immediately melted away.

They staked out some chairs and ordered drinks from a young man in a crisp white shirt and green pants. When the drinks arrived, Deirdre let out a laugh almost like a giggle.

“What?” Hans asked.

“This is the life. I haven’t had a day of pure relaxation in…forever.” She settled deeper into the chaise longue and sighed with contentment.

“It must be nice to get away from the lodge, as beautiful as it is.”

She nodded. “I do love the lodge, even after only a few weeks. It’s beginning to feel like home. But I’m always on call there and aside from Pippa, Jonathan, and Mary, everyone always leaves.”

His eyes were cool and compassionate and staring into them calmed her. She was coming to rely on his presence. When he left, her heart might shatter. Her gaze drifted down to his bare torso. It was a very nice torso. Broad and hard with rippling abdominals. He lifted his beer to his mouth and she watched his rough hand gripping the bottle. His biceps flexed with the motion.

She jumped off the chaise. “Ready for a swim?” She didn’t wait for his answer and, instead, strode to the pool and dove in. The cool water flowed over her. It felt like heaven.

Hans jumped in after her, surfaced, and grinned. He shook his head, scattering water droplets.

She turned away to hide her expression. She didn’t want to be attracted to him. To her friend. She had never felt so comfortable with anyone since Gran died. Hans, as a friend, was more important than her sexual urges. Even if it had been forever. She’d just have to push her feelings aside, especially since they didn’t mean anything. It was just attraction.

For her friend.

Her friend, the lynx shifter.

Savanna Dance Excerpt:
His warm, strong hand in hers, the heat coming off his body, everything about him made her savor what was to come. Based on his physical build and quiet nature, she guessed that if he were a shifter, he’d be a rhino.

The thought excited her. In her human form, she could indulge any fantasy.

“Did Pippa bring you to the campground earlier?” she asked as the dancing flames became visible through the trees.

“Yes. It’s a great set-up.”

“Do you like camping?” she asked.

He looked at her and squeezed her hand. “I do. Are there any unoccupied tents tonight?”

Heat shot to her core again and she stumbled, but Brandon’s hand held hers and kept her upright. He might even be stronger than Uncle Jonathan. And that was saying a lot.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Thanks to you,” she said. Inira glanced around. Voices came from shadows around the fire, but she didn’t sense anyone else. She pressed Brandon against a nearby tree, stood up on tiptoes, and brushed her lips across his, still holding his hand. Her other hand gripped his bicep, enjoying the hardness contrasting with his soft lips.

She went to step back but his arms came up around her, holding her in place against his body. Steel and velvet. His face lowered to hers and she now expected a proper kiss, not the light brush she initiated.

Wrapping her arms around him, she met his mouth with her own and fell deep into his embrace. He was all hard and soft. Hard muscle and grasp, soft hair, skin, lips. His passion surprised her. She’d expected a casual tumble. Not this endless heat and feeling and excitement.

The kiss went on and on. His arms still holding her tight against his muscled chest. Her hands exploring his back, shoulders, neck, playing with his blond waves.

Heat built in her and took her breath away. She pulled away, gasping. Smiling.

His eyes were soft, heavy-lidded, as if drunk. Drunk with the taste of her. Her smile widened.

“You promise a lot,” she said when she’d caught her breath. “Hope you can deliver.”

He barked out a laugh, sudden and surprised. “I could say the same of you.”

Night Spots Excerpt:
In the lift, he pushed his body against hers and stared into her eyes.

“Thanks for dinner,” she stammered, breathless from the intensity of his stare and the feel of him against her.

The corners of his mouth quirked up. “Anytime.” His face tilted further down toward her mouth and she sucked in a breath. His lips touched hers, gently.

She closed her eyes and brought her arms around his neck.

The pressure on her lips eased and cool air blew across them.

She opened her eyes to see he’d stepped away from her. His hand cupped her cheek and he gave her a slow, almost sad, smile.

The lift doors opened. He took her hand and walked her to her room. He leaned in again, lips brushing hers, but pulled away before she could react. “Thanks for a great night. See you tomorrow.”

He walked away.

She opened her door and collapsed on her bed. Nelson had surprised her again. Maybe he wasn’t a player.

If not, she was in trouble.

Pride of Africa Excerpt:
A feather fell out of her hair and tickled its way down her cheek. Swiping at it, she pushed through the flimsy gate into the kitchen garden and her foot twisted beneath her. “Ouch.” She sprawled in the dirt, her hair falling loose from a pony tail, another feather floating to the ground.

“Are you okay?” a deep male voice asked in a British accent.

Serena jumped from her place on the ground. A very tall man with light brown skin and short hair, wearing a business suit, stared down at her and set her heart to a feathery beat. “Um, hey.” She thought he’d asked a question but she couldn’t remember what it was.

“Are you the new volunteer?” he asked, voice like velvet.

“Yes, Serena Fitzgerald.” She reached out her hand and realized how dirty it was. “Oh, sorry.” She wiped her hands on her khaki pants.

A bemused expression passed across his face. “I’m Colin Kemboi.”

Kemboi. As in Pippa Blackwell-Kemboi?

“Are you Pippa’s son?” The sun shone from behind his head, creating a mane-like effect, accentuated by his proud stance and the wary set of his shoulders.

He nodded. “Were you on your way inside for evening drinks? You have a few minutes if you’d like to clean up.”

She must really be a mess. Normally she’d be intimidated by such a man and such a comment. But Serena had come all the way to Africa to follow her dreams. She wasn’t going to let this Colin make her feel bad about herself. She stood up straighter and marched into the kitchen.
